Jan Parolek Remembrance



On 16 November a ceremony was held at Jaroměřice, Czech Republic, to commemorate F/O Jan Parolek who was born in the town on 9 June 1917.

Dne 16. listopadu se konal v rodné obci F/O Jana Parolka, narozeného 9. června 1917 v Jaroměřicích, Česká republika, slavnostní obřad na uctění jeho památky.

He had served in 311 Squadron RAF as a wireless-operator. His Wellington bomber, Z8966, was lost over the Irish Sea on 16 November 1941 after returning from a bombing raid on Keil, Germany. His body was never found and he is commemorated on panel 30 at the Runnymede Memorial, England.

Byl příslušníkem 311. peruti RAF jako radiotelegrafista. Bombardovací letoun Wellington Z 8966, s nímž prováděli nálet na Kiel v Německu se při návratu 16. listopadu 1941, ztratil nad Irským mořem. Jeho tělo nebylo nikdy nalezeno. Jeho jméno je uvedeno na panelu 30 památníku, Runnymede v Anglii.
