In 2008, a limited edition medal was commissioned in the Czech Republic to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia.

V roce 2008 byla u příležitosti 90. výročí vzniku Československé republiky, vydaná edice medailí.

Due to various logistical reasons, there have been delays in locating some of the relatives of the intended recipients, one of whom was Karel Kuttelwascher to mark his achievements in WW2. He was the most successful Czechoslovak fighter pilot to have served in the RAF during of the war.

Z různých důvodů došlo při hledání vhodných příbuzných československých zahraničních letců ve druhé světové válce k opoždění jejího předání. Jedním z těchto letců byl Karel Kuttelwasher, který je uznáván jako nejúspěšnější československý stíhací pilot v RAF, ve druhé světové válce.

After extensive efforts by the Defence Office, at the Czech Embassy, London, relatives of Karel Kuttelwascher were finally located.

Po rozsáhlých pátráních Úřadu obrany, Českou ambasádou v Londýně, byla příbuzná Karla Kuttelwashera konečně nalezena.

On Friday, September 27th, 2013, Vee Darlington, one of Karel’s twin daughters and her husband Roger attended the Czech Embassy in London to be presented with the medal. Their hosts were Defence Attaché Colonel Roman Siwek and the Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel René Klapáč.

V pátek 27. září 2013, Vee Darlington, jedna z dvojčat dcery Karla Kuttelwashera a její manžel Roger, navštívili České velvyslanectví v Londýně, kde jim byla předána medaile. Medaili jim předali, přidělenec obrany plukovník Roman Sivek a vojenský atašé, podplukovník René Klapáč.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, they presented Vee with the medal and certificate and also a bouquet of flowers as a personal gesture from themselves.

Jménem Ministerstva obrany České republiky, předali Vee medaili s osvědčením a od personálu velvyslanectví, kytici květin.

“I am one of the twin daughters of Karel Kuttelwascher and was honoured to have been contacted by the Czech Defence Attaché Colonel Roman Siwek and the Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel René Klapáč regarding our father, Karel Kuttelwascher. The Czech Embassy in London wished to present me with a medal and citation for our father Karel Kuttelwascher to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia. Karel Kuttelwascher was the RAF’s most successful night intruder ace but was largely forgotten after World War II. It was only after the fall of the Communist regime that the Czech people could learn about those brave men and women who fought to free their country from Nazi rule.”

“Jsem jedna z dvojčat dcery Karla Kuttelwashera a byla jsem poctěna návštěvou zástupců obrany českého velvyslanectví, plukovníka Romana Sivka a vojenského atašé plukovníka René Klepáče, kteří mě, vnučce Karla Kuttelwashera sdělili, že by mi v rámci připomínky 90. výročí vzniku Československa , chtěli na Velvyslanectví České republiky v Londýně, slavnostně předat medaili s osvědčením mého dědy, Karla Kuttelwashera. Karel Kuttelwasher byl v RAF, nejúspěšnějším nočním stíhacím pilotem, letecké eso a po druhé světové válce však ve své vlasti zapomenut. Teprve po pádu komunistického režimu, se lidé v Čechách dozvěděli o statečných mužích a ženách, kteří bojovali za osvobození jejich země od nacistické nadvlády.”
