You are most cordially invited to attend a morning tour of WW II air battle & crash sites along with two accompanying evening commemoration ceremonies in Ypres.
Tímto Vás srdečně zveme na dopolední túru po místech letecké bitvy a leteckých havárií 2. světové války, spolu se dvěma následujícími večerními pamětními obřady v Ypres v Belgii.
On May 5th 1942, the RAF launched Operation Circus 157. This was a composite force of 6 Boston bombers escorted by 36 Spitfires flown by British, Belgian, Czechoslovak, Norwegian, Rhodesian, Canadian and Dutch pilots. Their mission was to bomb a power plant near Lille.
5. května 1942 spustila RAF tzv. Operaci Circus 157. Tato akce měla za úkol zničit elektrárnu v blízkosti Lille v severní Francii a zúčastnilo se jí 6 bombardérů Boston doprovázených 36 stíhačkami Spitfire. Nasazená letadla pilotovali Britové, Belgičané, Čechoslováci, Norové, Kanaďané, Rodézan a Nizozemec.
The Luftwaffe scrambled 21 Focke Wulf fighters to intercept the RAF fleet however, only 6 managed to make contact with the returning Spitfires in the skies above Ypres but that was enough! 5 Spitfires were quickly lost with four of the five pilots being killed. The nationalities of the fallen RAF pilots include Belgian, Czechoslovak, Canadian & British. The 5th pilot, another Czech, managed to escape and fight another day. The four fallen pilots were eventually buried side by side in Ypres Town Extension CWGC cemetery. The Belgian pilot was later removed to the cemetery in Evere.
Luftwaffe dala dohromady 21 stíhaček Focke Wulf, aby narušily průběh této operace. Pouze šest z nich se dostalo do kontaktu s navracejícími se Spitfiry na obloze nad Ypres, ale i to stačilo! Během 20minut bylo 5 Spitfirů ztraceno a čtyři z pěti pilotů RAF mrtví: Čech, Belgičan, Kanaďan a Brit. Pátému pilotovi, dalšímu Čechovi, se podařilo uniknout a později se navrátil k RAF. Čtyři padlí stíhači byli pohřbeni vedle sebe na vojenském hřbitově Ypres Town Extension CWGC. Belgický pilot byl později exhumován a pohřben na čestném hřbitově belgických vojenských pilotů v Evere.
The morning tour includes air action and crash site visits with most sites having memorials in situ. The day will conclude with a 7pm joint graveside ceremony in Ypres Town Ext CWGC cemetery, which will be immediately followed by an 8pm inclusion within the Last Post Ceremony under the Menin Gate Memorial. Dopolední túra zahrnuje návštěvu lokalit, kde probíhala letecká bitva Operace Circus 157 a kde dotyčné Spitfiry havarovaly; na většině těchto míst jsou dnes památníky padlým pilotům. Den bude zakončen v 19 hod. pamětní ceremonií u hrobů pilotů na vojenském hřbitově Ypres Town Extension CWGC cemetery, po níž bude ve 20 hod. následovat účast na slavnostním obřadu Last Post u památníku Menin Gate v Ypres. Attending the day of events are immediate family members of Czech Spitfire pilot Karel Pavlík, representatives on behalf of the other pilots, the Last Post buglers, the standards and representatives of the Entente and the piper.
Pamětních oslav Operace Circus 157 se zúčastní mj též rodinní příbuzní rotmistra Karla Pavlíka, zástupci ostatních pilotů, trubači Last Post, dudák a představitelé veteránských organizací Královské Éntente se zástavami.

The tour itself will be informal and all you require is your own transport or reserved seats with others. Both evening ceremonies are more formal and ceremonial attire is recommended.
Dopolední túra je neformální a jediné, co je potřeba, je vlastní transport nebo rezervace míst u jiných účastníků. Oba večerní slavnostní obřady jsou formální a doporučujeme odpovídající oděv.
The tour takes about 4 hours. It starts at 9:30 am and the meeting point is the parking in front of the restaurant De Voerman outside the Lille Gate in Ypres. (Map on http://www.ieper.be)
Túra trvá asi 4 hodiny. Začátek je v 9:30 na parkovišti před restaurací De Voerman na venkovní straně Lillské brány v Ypres (mapa města je na http://www.ieper.be).
