Karel Pavlik – 28 August 2015

On 28 August 2015, the village of Dranoutre, some seven miles south of Ypres, Belgium, held a ceremony to commemorate its liberation in 1918 and to offer homage to two of the five downed RAF pilots who were shot down and killed over their village on May 5th 1942 during Operation Circus 157.

One of these being the Belgian Spitfire pilot F/Lt Bauduin de Hemptinne and the other, Czechoslovak Spitfire pilot Sgt Karel Pavlík. Both have crash site memorials in or on the outskirts of the village today.

Jeden z pilotů Spitfirů byl Belgičan F/Lt Baudouin de Hemptinne a druhý byl československý pilot Sgt Karel Pavlík. F/Lt De Hemptinne má památník v Dranouteru a Sgt Pavlík asi kilometr od vesnice u místa, kde havaroval jeho Spitfire.
