This is the story of the author’s early childhood in Czechoslovakia, through to his escape after the German invasion. It is not a story of heroics but shows what happened to someone who passionately believed in freedom and independence for his country. Although he had very control over the events or his fate during the war years he served first in the Czechoslovak Army, under the British in the Middle East, and later in the RAF in the United Kingdom.
The author continues his story with his return to Czechoslovakia after the war until the communists took over and he managed to return to England with his family to start again.
Whether writing about his early childhood in a single room in Stankov, his experiences during the Second World War or his later success un business, Jan Shuster writes in an honest and forthright manner which readers will appreciate.
