A modest remembrance ceremony to Sgt Karel Pavlík was held on 30 August 2013 at his Memorial near Dranouter, Belgium. The Memorial is in adjacent to the meadow where he was killed in his Spitfire crashed on 5th May 1942.
Dne 30.srpna 2013 se u belgického města Dranouter u Památníku padlých, konala tryzna za Karla Pavlíka, který 5. května 1942, zemřel nedaleko při havárii s Spitfire.
The town of Dranouter commemorated the 95th anniversary of its liberation in the Great War. Included within the commemoration were two WW2 RAF pilots; F/Lt Baudouin de Hemptinne, a Belgian and Sgt Karel Pavlík, Czechoslovak, who were both killed during whilst on Circus 157. Both their Spitfires crashed near the town.
Město Dranouter si připomínalo 95. výročí svého osvobození v první světové válce a do památky padlých byly zahrnuty také dva piloti RAF z druhé světové války, Belgičan F/L Baudouin de Hemptinne, a Čech, Sgt. Karel Pavlík, kteří přišli o život v rámci akce Cirkus 157. Oba Spitfire havarovaly nedaleko města.
Attending the ceremony was the Commissioner General for the coordination of the commemoration WW1, the Commander of the Barracks, the British Honorary Consul, the Padre Brian Llewellyn, ex-RAF S/Ldr and now the Padre of St George’s Memorial Church in Ypres, Milena Kolaříková as Czech representative, Chris Lock and other local residents. The guard of Honour was from the Ypres Barracks and Logistics centre.
Slavnostního ceromoniálu se zúčastnil generální komisař pro koordinaci připomenutí 1. světové války, Velitel místních kasáren, Britský Honorální Konzul, Padre Památníku v kostele sv. Jiřího v Ypres, za Českou republiku Milena Kolaříková a místní občané. Čestnou stráž drželi vojáci z Yperských kasáren a logistického střediska.
Following speeches in Czech and Dutch, Padre Brian said the Prayer for the Fallen, the Governor and Milena Kolaříková, laid wreaths, there was a Kohima Prayer, and then the Czech national anthem was sung.
Po slavnostních projevech v Češtině a Holandštině, Padre pronesl modlitbu za zemřelé. Guverner a Milena Kolaříková položili věnce k Památníku a byla zazpívána Česká státní hymna.
