Remembering the 115

A group of military veterans and officials pose together outdoors in front of a memorial, surrounded by trees with autumn leaves.

On 10 December, after laying a wreath on behalf of FCAFA at the London Battle of Britain Memorial, the Czech Veteran’s group of current serving and veteran Czech military personnel, led by Tomáš Sláma, made their way to the Bomber Command Memorial.

There, they again laid a wreath on behalf of FCAFA to commemorate the 115 Czechoslovak airmen who lost their lives whilst serving in RAF Bomber Command during WW2.

Whilst the majority of that 115 Czechoslovak loss where from 311 (Czechoslovak) Squadron, when the squadron was deployed in Bomber Command while stationed at RAF Honnington and RAF East Wreatham, between 29 July 1940 to 18 April 1942, a few others flew with Britsh RAF squadrons.

A group of military veterans, some in uniform and others in civilian attire, poses together with a banner that reads 'Veterans - Váleční veteráni České republiky' in front of a landmark with autumn leaves on the ground.

The Bomber Command Memorial, is at Green Park, London and commemorates the 55,573 airmen who died serving with RAF’s Bomber Command in WW2.
